Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Administration
With effect from 1 May 2019, on the basis of Cabinet Order No. 530 “For the addition of the administration of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund to the State Regional Development Agency”, Paragraph 3, the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund has been liquidated, adding it to the State Regional Development Agency. SRDA is the successor to the functions, rights, obligations and claims of the Administration of Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
The Administration of Latvian Environmental Protection Fund is included in the State Regional Development Agency as a separate unit.
The Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Administration (LVAFA) continues to perform the functions and tasks specified in the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Law.
THE LIFE Programme
The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value.
The LIFE multiannual work programme for 2014-2017 sets the framework for the next four years for the management of the new LIFE Programme 2014-2020. It contains an indicative budget, explains the selection methodology for projects and for operating grants and establishes outcome indicators for the two LIFE sub-programmes – for Environment and for Climate Action. The total budget for funding projects during the period covered amounts to €1.1 billion under the sub-programme for Environment and €0.36 billion under the sub-programme for Climate Action.

Administration of Latvian Environmental Protection Fund is national contact point of LIFE program and also organizes call proposals for national co-financing of LIFE program.
