The SRDA provides the administration of the state financed programme started earlier "The Development of Specially Supported Territories" and the grant scheme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund "Support for Investment in Business Development in Specially supported Territories".
Currently, the SRDA ensures the verification of the project progress and the requests for the funds, the payments, the preparation of the declarations of expenditure and the monitoring and control of project implementation.
The state financed programme "The Development of Specially Supported Territories"
The implementation of the programme started in 1998 with the aim to co-finance the company and local municipality development projects in order to accelerate the development of specially supported territories and promote projects and business activities in these territories. Within the framework of the Programme, interest on credit utilized in compliance with the project submitted to the SRDA is reimbursed.
By 2007, within the framework of the Programme, 1192 project applications were submitted, 1073 financing contracts were concluded (845 projects were implemented), 5662 new jobs were created, 14162 jobs were maintained and 4687 seasonal jobs were created.
State aid programme "Development of Entrepreneurship (Business Activities) in the Specially Supported Territories"
The SRDA has administrated this programmes since 2004 and it functions as a grant scheme within the framework of the SPD sub-activity 2.2.1.2 "Support for Investment in the Development of Enterprises in Specially Supported Territories". In order to implement the ERDF financing in Latvia and in compliance with the N+2 principle, the grant scheme will be implemented till 2008, envisaging project monitoring and control till 2013.
According to the planning documents, 173 financing contracts have been concluded within the framework of the grant scheme, private co-financing to the amount of 8 million lats has been attracted, and 2236 jobs have been created or maintained.
