Research
One of the main lines of the SRDA activities is analytical work basically directed towards evaluating territorial development, defining the development tendencies, and analyzing the impact of the development support instruments. For analysis sectoral, demographic and social economic indicators are used, since the monitoring of regional policy requires the collection, processing and analysis of quantified information on the implementation of the financial resources of support instruments for regional development and the result indicators in the territories of the country.
In order to cope with the above mentioned analytical work and do quality analysis of the impact of various development planning documents on the whole country or on separate territories, the MRDLG cooperating with the SRDA, works on setting up the regional development monitoring and evaluation system.
The SRDA carries out also thematic research based on the available data and taking into account both the qualitative and the sectoral information necessary for the evaluation of regional policy and state development planning. The analysis of the statistical information will serve as a basis for choosing the research themes and for doing the research. The elaboration of the research themes will be done in various ways: part of the research will be done by the SRDA researchers, part will be done by outsourcing (engaging experts or competent companies), and part will be done by combining both ways.
The research themes will be defined pursuing the objectives and tasks of the National Development Plan. Applied thematic research will complement the information obtained within the framework of the Regional Development Monitoring and Assessment System (RDMAS), and it will provide the opportunity to be more exact in assessing the development trends and identifying the development problems.
A separate research line is development modeling and forecasting. It has been planned to devise various models of development indicators, to use statistical methods and expert evaluation in development modeling and forecasting, as well as to analyze the logical connection of the RDAS data and the indicators of the state development planning documents and submit recommendations for evaluating these data.
