Block grant "Short Term Expert Fund"


 
The block grant "Short Term Expert Fund" contributes to the administrative capacity building of public sector institutions and social partners, in order to foster their effectiveness and the principle of sound administration in the public sector. Within the framework of the block grant, projects defined as prioritary in the Memorandum of Understanding of the Norwegian financial instrument will be supported.

The block grant has been elaborated in accordance with the Latvian National Plan and it will enhance the capacity of the public sector institutions and the research and forecasting skills.

The objective of the block grant is to promote the introduction of sound management principles and improve the quality of public sector services, by stimulating the exchange of knowledge, experience, information and good practice between Latvia and Norway or some other country of the European Economic Area.

The block grant is financed from the funds of the bilateral financial instrument of the Norwegian government and the budget of the Republic of Latvia. The total accessible co-financing for the subprojects within the framework of the block grant is the equivalent of 1 161 773 euros in lats according to the exchange currency rate of the Bank of Latvia, including the  co-financing of the subprojects from the state budget amounting to the equivalent of 174 266 euros in lats according to the exchange currency rate of the Bank of Latvia or 15%.
