INTERREG First Level Financial Control
In 2004, the SRDA started the first level financial control of INTERREG III projects in Latvia, including INTERREG III A, B, C, ESPON and INTERACT projects. It envisages preparing at least 150 opinions annually. With the new EU fund programming period, there will be a drastic growth in the number of cross-border cooperation programmes and the number of projects submitted by Latvia's partners.
The first level financial control involves assessment of the account of the expenditure on the project, its expediency and correspondence to the planned results in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and the European Union, as well as on-site check-ups of the tangible and intangible assets acquired or created during the implementation of the projects.
